Handy tips for creating your video presentation
Since the pandemic we’ve all become used to video conferences, whats app video calls and face timing people. It’s almost now second nature as a way of communicating with each other.
The PresentIT tool has been designed to enable you to create fast videos as a way of explaining complex information. It can be used whilst on the go and for more structured presentations where there is more professionalism and planning required. For those time we’ve put together a few handy tips on how to produce the best quality videos.
Environment
The first part of getting ready to record your presentation is to ensure you set the right environment.
Lighting – Don’t have the lighting behind you and don’t sit underneath the spotlights in your office. You ideally want soft lighting to come from behind the camera.
Turn the camera on – People want to see your great personality. Position the camera slightly from above to avoid recording a view up your nostrils.
Background – We’ve all seen the awkward videos on YouTube where people being interviewed haven’t checked what’s laying around in their house, so first be aware of what’s in your background and remove anything that will draw peoples attention away from what you’re saying. However avoid having a plain white wall behind you, its dull and doesn’t show people who you are.
The Script
Once you’ve got the environment right you then need to record your presentation.
Preparation – Know what you’re going to say and when you’re going to say it. Put the documents into PresentIT in the right order so that you can just click onto the next one. Unless you feel completely comfortable ‘winging it’ and talking without prompts it might be handy just to note down a few bullet points of the information you want to get across.
Have a point – The videos on PresentIT are there to give clarity to complex text or diagrams. Understand the points you want to make and make them clearly using simple words that will give greater meaning to the information displayed.
Speak clearly and slow down - People have a habit of talking too fast when they’re presenting or on camera. Have a prompt displayed behind the camera to remind you to talk slowly and concisely, sometimes taking a sip of water every so often can help you just to slow down and think about what you’re saying.
Lastly, don’t worry and have fun - You’re the expert on what you want to say and if people are watching it it’s because they’re interested.
